Post I (Binomial Probability)

1. Choose a value for p between 0.20 and 0.80. It should have at least two decimal places. When you create the thread on Blackboard, put your p = your value in the title. I must be different from the other student’s p.

2. Find the following binomial probabilities. Show all your work. Round to 4 decimal places.

a. Find the probability that exactly 6 of 25 are successes.

b. Find the probability that at least 10 of 25 are successes.

c. Find the probability that at most 5 of 25 are successes.

d. Find the probability that there are between 3 and 7 successes, inclusive.

Post 2 (Normal Probability)

1. Choose a classmate’s Post 1 that has not been done already and check their work. Check carefully because if you miss a mistake you will lose points.

2. Use the information that you need from Post 1. Then, if possible, find the normal approximation for each of the probabilities as we learned in section 5.5 in the textbook.

Post 3

1. Choose a classmate’s Post 2 that has not been done already. Check the work in Post 1 and Post 2. Check carefully because if you miss a mistake you will lose points.

2. Compare the probabilities in Post 1 with the probabilities in Post 2. Write at least 3 sentences explain the differences and similarities in the binomial distribution and the normal distribution.
